McGaws Road Causeway Replacement
Reliance Engineering Services were engaged by Goulburn Mulwaree Council to provide engineering support and project superintendency services for the construction of a new triple cell culvert structure on McGaws Road.
The project located near Windellama in New South Wales was funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) following significant damaged sustained to the existing low-lying causeway in August 2020.
During recent years, residents along McGaws Road have been restricted on numerous occasions from crossing Windellama Creek until flood waters recede.
To provide greater flooding resilience for local residents, Goulburn Mulwaree Council received funding to upgrade the existing low-lying causeway to a triple cell culvert structure.
Reliance Engineering provided the following services to Council:
Consulted with the Department of Primary Industries to define NSW Fisheries design expectations and requirements for the proposed culvert upgrade
Liaised with an environmental consultant to complete Review of Environmental Factors, Aquatic Biodiversity Assessment and Aboriginal Heritage Due Diligence Assessment
Prepared conceptual designs drawings for Council’s review and comment
Prepared and obtained environmental clearances for proposed works
Consulted with Fairlight Consulting Engineers to prepare detailed engineering drawings for construction
Prepared civil engineering drawings to facilitate the proposed culvert upgrade in accordance with the structural engineering plans
Contract Administration
Project Management and Superintendency
Monitoring and enforcing Contractor compliance
The project was successful delivered by Coopers Earthmoving and Haulage Pty Ltd and commissioned for opening in April 2025.
